Spatial Uncertainty in Pore Pressure Models at the Brazilian Continental Margin

چکیده
Abstract Accurate pore pressure models in wells are essential for ensuring the lowest cost and operational safety during exploration/development projects. This modeling requires integration of several sources information such as well data, formation tests, geophysical logs, mud weight, geological models, seismic geothermal sedimentation rate modeling. An empirical relationship between overpressure compressional wave velocity is commonly applied to model pressure. deterministic approach does not allow uncertainty quantification ignores other variables related paper presents a case study with real data evaluate quantify spatial uncertainty. The exhaustive secondary variable came from combination models. methodology uses Sequential Gaussian Cosimulation Intrinsic Collocated Cokriging. results demonstrate usefulness applicability workflow proposed.

GSA Today: v. 16, no. 2, doi: 10.1130/1052-5173(2006)016<4:TIAACM>2.0.CO;2 INTRODUCTION Forty years ago, the eastern margin of North America inspired Tuzo Wilson (1966) to ask, “Did the Atlantic close and then re-open?” The Wilson cycle of closing and opening of ocean basins incorporates the cyclic assembly and breakup of supercontinents. Alternate processes of extension and compression of cont...
متن کاملEstimation of pore water pressure in the body of earth dams during construction with intelligent models
One of the basic measures in managing the stability of earth dams is to accurately estimate the amount of pore water pressure in the body of the dam during and after its construction. In this study, three different models of artificial neural network (ANN), adaptive neural-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and gene expression programming (GEP) to estimate the pore water pressure in the body of Kab...
متن کاملModeling Sedimentary Deposits on the Continental Margin
A first objective is to investigate the fabric (pattern) of seabed stratification on continental margins at small time and space scales (1 cm-50 cm depth into the seabed; 1 hr-3 yrs sedimentary record). To this end, we are testing the hypothesis that on muddy shelves such as the northern California shelf, Holocene event stratigraphy consists of the deposits of high-concentration storm regimes a...

A new dataset for the high-pressure to ultrahigh-pressure Western Gneiss Region allows the definition of distinct structural and petrological domains.Much of the study area is an E-dippinghomoclinewith E-plunging lineations that exposes progressively deeper, more strongly deformed, more eclogite-rich structural levels westward. Although eclogites crop out across the WGR, Scandian deformation is...
